The Return of Cheap Movies
Hooray! When I was younger, Tuesdays were "cheap movie night" -- they started as "Two-fifty Tuesdays" and gradually went up until they disappeared altogether. Now, it looks like the two big players -- Cineplex and Empire -- have both decided to look to the past for guidance in how to get bums-in-seats again.
Cineplex has teamed up with Telus for "Telus Tuesdays" -- Admission, regular popcorn and regular drink for 1/2 price. Some restrictions apply, of course, and for Telus customers there may be additional offers and contests. These deals are applicable locally at Silver City (Tillicum) and The Odeon (downtown).
Empire is offering Reel Deal Tuesdays: Combo #1 is $5.99 (small popcorn + regular drink + regular Nestle treat) and admission is cheaper, too -- at Empire University 4 (Gordon Head) $5.99; at Empire Capitol 6 (downtown) $5.99 or $8.99 for Digital 3D showings.
Empire Theatres also offer the Student Combo (with valid University or College ID): $9.99 gets you in the door plus a small popcorn and regular drink.
There's also lots of other movie deals around town -- from Movie Monday to cheap features at the Roxy -- there's something for everyone.
